Our Standard

Faun & Fern exists for one reason: you shouldn't need a chemistry degree to buy dish soap. Every product has to clear our ingredient and materials standard before it earns a shelf spot here — full disclosure, no synthetic fragrance, no concerning ingredients, natural fibers only. If it can't clear the bar, it doesn't list. That's the whole idea: you shop, we worry about the labels.

How we vet products

• Every ingredient named. We only list products whose makers disclose everything that's in them. If a product hides behind "fragrance," "parfum," or "proprietary blend," it doesn't make our shelves.
• No synthetic fragrance, ever. We only list unscented products and ones scented with real essential oils and botanicals. Anything with phthalates or undisclosed aroma chemicals doesn't list.
• Screened for the usual suspects. We check every product against our list of concerning ingredients — parabens, triclosan, formaldehyde releasers, optical brighteners, and the rest — using the maker's own disclosures. Anything on the list is out.
• Materials matter too. Cookware, textiles, and décor get the same scrutiny as what goes on your skin. Our apparel and home textiles are natural fibers only — cotton, linen, hemp, wool. Never synthetic.
• Packaging, honestly. Your order ships directly from our supplier's warehouse in their standard packaging — usually a recyclable mailer or box. We choose products whose own packaging is plastic-free where we can, and custom plastic-free shipping packaging is on our roadmap as we grow. We'll always say so clearly on the product page when a product ships plastic-free.
• Honest language. For traditional goods like herbs, tinctures, and essential oils, we describe traditional uses only — never medical claims. If we can't say it honestly, we don't say it.

What "approved" means

When you see "Faun & Fern approved" on a product, it means it cleared our full ingredient and materials review against this standard before it listed. And the bar doesn't drop after listing day: if we learn a formula or material has changed, we re-check it — and anything that stops passing leaves the shelf.
