Beeswax Fire Starters
For the fireplace, the fire pit, or the campfire. These catch fast, burn long, and beat lighter fluid in every way.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup organic beeswax pastilles (or leftover candle stubs)
- Dryer lint, sawdust, or shredded paper
- A cardboard egg carton
Steps
- Fill each egg cup loosely with lint or sawdust.
- Melt the beeswax in a double boiler.
- Pour wax over each cup until saturated.
- Cool until completely hard, then tear or cut into individual starters.
- Store in a dry spot near the fireplace.
Storage
Dry spot; keeps indefinitely.
⚠️ Safety notes
- Melt wax with care — never leave it unattended.
- Use only in fireplaces, fire pits, and grills — never as indoor candles.
- Keep away from children and pets.
Never leave burning candles or melting wax unattended, and keep all open flames, hot wax, and fire starters away from children and pets. Trim candle wicks to 1/4 inch before each burn.
