DIY Beeswax Food Wraps
Wrap the half lemon, cover the rising dough, skip the plastic. These mold with the warmth of your hands and last for months.
Ingredients
- 100% cotton fabric squares (thin quilting cotton works best)
- 1/4 cup organic beeswax pastilles per 2–3 wraps
- 1 teaspoon organic jojoba oil per batch
- Parchment paper
- An oven
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Lay a fabric square flat on the parchment.
- Sprinkle beeswax pastilles evenly over the fabric and dot with jojoba oil.
- Bake 4–5 minutes until the wax melts.
- Use a brush to spread the wax edge to edge.
- Lift by the corners, wave for 10 seconds to set, and lay flat to cool.
Storage
Folded in a drawer, away from heat. Lasts 6–12 months; re-wax when they stop sticking.
⚠️ Safety notes
- Hot wax — use oven mitts.
- Wash with cool water and mild soap only; heat melts the coating.
- Not for raw meat.
Standard kitchen hygiene applies — clean hands, clean equipment, and proper storage for everything you make. If anything looks, smells, or tastes off, don't eat it. Never give honey to children under one year old.
