Hand-Dipped Beeswax Tapers

The oldest candle-making method there is: dip, cool, repeat. Meditative to make, beautiful on the table.

🧪 Makes: One pair of tapers per pound, depending on thickness.

Ingredients

Steps

  1. Melt the beeswax in the tall can set in simmering water.
  2. Tie the wick to a stick so it hangs straight.
  3. Dip the wick fully, lift, and let cool about 30 seconds.
  4. Repeat 20–30 times until the taper is as thick as you like.
  5. Hang to cool completely, then trim the base flat and the wick to 1/4 inch.

Storage

Cool, dry place; keeps indefinitely. Store flat or hanging.

⚠️ Safety notes

  • Never leave melting wax unattended.
  • Use a proper holder — tapers drip.
  • Never leave burning candles unattended.

Never leave burning candles or melting wax unattended, and keep all open flames, hot wax, and fire starters away from children and pets. Trim candle wicks to 1/4 inch before each burn.
