Poured Beeswax Container Candles
Real beeswax candles smell faintly of honey and burn with a warm, steady light. Making them is easier than you'd think.
Ingredients
- 1 lb organic beeswax pastilles
- Cotton wicks, pretabbed (ECO 12 suits standard jars)
- Clean, heat-safe jars or tins
- 1–2 teaspoons essential oil per pound of wax (optional — about 1–2%)
Steps
- Anchor a wick in the center of each jar.
- Melt the beeswax in a pouring pitcher set in simmering water.
- Cool to about 150°F, then stir in essential oil if using.
- Pour slowly into the jars, keeping wicks centered.
- Cool undisturbed for several hours until fully set.
- Trim wicks to 1/4 inch before the first burn.
Storage
Cool, dry place; keeps indefinitely.
